Support for what feels difficult. Skills for what comes next.
Individual and Couples therapy for adults, via telehealth and in person in Belmont, MA. Treatment is thoughtfully tailored to your needs, strengths, and goals.
Emotions & Relationships
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)-Informed Care: Work toward a deeper understanding of your emotions and develop coping strategies for challenging situations. Use the DBT skills of Mindfulness, Emotion Regulation, Distress Tolerance, and Interpersonal Effectiveness to break patterns of self-invalidation, suppressing your emotions, and engaging in dangerous or risky behaviors to manage your emotions. If your relationship goals would be better addressed in a couples therapy setting, we DBT-Informed therapy is not the same as Full-Model or Comprehensive DBT. Please see FAQ for more information.
Anxiety & Depression
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy: CBT is a widely researched approach that can be particularly effective for anxiety, depression, phobias, panic, and stress-related concerns. CBT emphasized the connection between your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. We’ll identify unhelpful “thinking traps” that may be contributing to distress and work toward developing more balanced and helpful ways of thinking and responding.
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy: ACT is an evidence-based approach that emphasizes psychological flexibility, acceptance of difficult internal experiences, and values-based action. Rather than trying to eliminate uncomfortable thoughts and emotions, treatment helps you change your relationship with them so they have less control over your life.
Trauma & PTSD
Cognitive Processing Therapy: After trauma, it’s common to get caught in certain beliefs about yourself, other people, or what happened, such as feeling responsible for the trauma or believing the world is no longer safe. Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) helps you recognize these "stuck points,", explore where they came from, and develop more flexible ways of understanding your experience. The goal is to loosen the grip these beliefs have on your life so you can feel less stuck and move forward without self-blame.
DBT-Prolonged Exposure: It’s natural to want to avoid people, places, memories, or situations that bring up a traumatic experience. While avoidance can provide relief in the short term, it can also keep trauma feeling present and powerful. Prolonged Exposure (PE) is an evidence-based treatment that gradually and safely helps you approach these reminders, process what happened, and regain a greater sense of freedom in your daily life. When trauma occurs alongside intense emotions or high-risk behaviors, building stability may need to come first. DBT-PE combines DBT skills for managing emotions and staying safe with Prolonged Exposure to help you build the foundation needed to process trauma effectively.
